We need some sponsers who will support the open source products and project. It is important to get support when needed. IWhy will anybody support open source projects? If you are asking the same question as me, then ask JBoss. Apache supports lots of open source projects. Sun Microsystems has joined open source arena. IBM supports linux and open source. Go to sourceforge.net, you will find lots of corporate who support the hosting of open source. The reason being??
I am a techy guy who has little knowledge on finance. I believe it is because of demand and supply. When developers and Business wants open source products and greater control corporates try to provide the same.

I personally am an avid supporter of Open source. Working at a mnc, I can understand the mentality issues that the management go through - however open source does not need only developers, it needs scout in the marketing (like me), finance, legal and operations management. Open source needs to be the bench mark for efficiency, delivery abilities, community, scalability and all the good things that come with it.
